Ancillary Task Poster (Draft 3)

I have added in the beginnings of the background so that the girls have something to run across and also so that the poster has a little more depth.

Ancillary Task Poster (Draft 2)

We have decided not to have a slogan and also that we want to use a silhouette theme a bit like on the poster for 'Head lamps in the Darkness'. I have added in some silhouettes of girls running as a starting point.

Second Draft of Trailer

Update 23

This weekend Charlotte and I are going to work on the ancillary tasks as well as filming a couple more scenes for the trailer including:
  1. Girl being stabbed
  2. A longer version of the girls 'on' T.V
We have taken out the music as we do not feel it fits all that well and we shall be looking for a new soundtrack.

Ancillary Task Poster (Draft 1)

Charlotte has made a basic layout on Serif x6 showing vaguely where we want to have the text and the font of the text. We are not sure about having a slogan but she has left a space for it if we decide we want one.

Update 22

Today we are going to film the teacher section in which she creates a base for the whole trailer. Charlotte is creating a one slide presintation on PowerPoint that we can have on the screen behind her to set the scene a bit better. We will be doing the scene starting from behind her and panning round to the front.

We have also gone back and had a look at our title. 'Hunted' no longer really fits with what we have as a trailer so we have decided to change the name. The new title is 'The Project', we feel this fits a little better with our theme overall. Although we are changing the name we are keeping the same font.

Mrs D

You are working really well. I like some of your mes and your ideas are good. I like the start - the end becomes very repetitive. Are you providing enough for your audience? I'm not a huge fan of your font at the end. You might want to rethink this. I really like the shot where the trainers come towards the camera.

Update 21

We need a way to get the point of the story across a bit better. In order to do this we want to film a 'Teacher' giving us instructions about the assignment the girls are meant to be on. In between these shots we are going to have the captions 'A project' and then 'designed to kill'. This helps us to anchor the trailer a bit better and also meets the audience feedback point of "more footage" and "building the storyline".

Update 20

Today I have recorded the scream for the end of the trailer and edited it into the trailer. I have also re-added the soundtrack to fit with the newest footage. I have also gone through the whole trailer adjusting the brightness and contrast so that it matches across the trailer.

However on Sunday we were unable to record because Charlotte was really ill and was unable to make it and also we hadn't planned for the Wokingham Winter Carnival that took place that day making it really hard for anyone to get where we planned to meet. I was going to film the couple of scenes that I was able by myself, but it rained all day and I was home alone with no way to keep the camera dry whilst I recorded myself. We are going to re-schedule the little bit of filming we have to do.

We want to add some text over our footage to help the audience follow the storyline a little better so we need to come up with some idea's for that.

Poster RMA Research (The Amityville Horror)

The image is a multi-tude of images that have been edited together. The house sets the scene, and the 'walls' at the edge make it feel isolated. The person in the foreground sort of fades into the house a little creating a link between the two. He is also holding a weapon, this signifies that he might need to defend himself in or from the house. In the bottom left hand corner is caption that reads 'KATCH EM & KILL EM'. It looks a little like its been scratched or written on a wall and helps us to begin to understand what might be going on. 'KATCH EM' makes us feel like something or someones after some one and the 'KILL EM' shows that once they've caught them they want to kill them. 'EM' could signify that whatever it is, is after multiple people. This links back to the man but we don't know yet weather he's the victim or the killer. This creates intriuge as to who he is making the viewer want to see the film. The title of the film is at the bottom of the poster and simply reads 'The Amityville Horror'. It looks a little like its on fire and stands out largely from the rest of the poster as its bright compared to the faded background image. This colour helps to draw the eye of the audience to the name.

This is another poster for the same film. The top half of the picture looks like it could be any old house on any street with the proud owner standing in front. However looking down you see a swimming pool thats completely red as though its covered in blood. In the pool you see a reflection of the house but in the reflection there is no man and in the reflection you can see whats behind him, whereas in the 'normal' image you obviously cannot see behind him.

Website RMA Research (The Collection)

http://www.thecollectionmovie.com/

The main page for this website is pretty basic. You have your trailer nice and big on the right hand side just below the title of the movie. Above the title in a smaller font it reads 'From the twisted creators of Saw IV, V, VI & VII' this gives information of past films and builds a hype for the fans of the Saw movies. Towards the bottom of the page is a review and the social networking sites on which you can find out more information. Right at the bottom of the page are the tabs which take you to a different page relevant to the title on the tab. on this website they are titled:

  • Film makers
  • Cast
  • LD Entertainment
The background is very simple being just black with a couple of read 'blood' streaks. The pieces of information are encased in boxes  keeping everything nice and neat and also matches the name 'the collection' as it looks like everything is being stored in a collection.

First Draft of Trailer

Update 19

On Sunday we are going to do a little bit more filming as Charlotte and I have discussed some extra scenes that would cover the audience feedback points of:
  • Need some more shocking scenes
  • Need more footage
  • Is the killer male or female?
  • Brute force shows masculinity
This allows us to meet some of the audienece feedback as well as potentially making our film better. Today I am also going to sort out the length of the captions at the beginning due to the fact that it is a little hard to read and it was also mentioned as part of the audience feedback.

Website RMA Research (My Amityville Horror)

http://www.amityvillemovie.com/

This website is for the film 'My Amityville Horror'. Upon opening the website the trailer starts to play automatically. It takes up quite a large area of the top section of the screen. Below the trailer is the name of the film and next to that a review. Both of these fonts are the same and also have the same 'glow' effect. Underneath the review are tabs to other pages. They include:
  • About
  • Press
  • Media
  • Screenings
  • Contact
These tabs take you to pages relevant to the information they entitle. Also on this page is some links to social media websites such as facebook and twitter. It also has this dark background that has some images at the top but is just black the rest of the way down which keeps the focus on whats written.

Update 18

We have decided that for our ancillary task we are going to create a poster and a website for our trailer.
Our trailer is coming together nicely, however it still needs editing to make it nice and clean. Also we are going to look at the audience feedback and see what we can do to make it better.

Audience Feedback (Trailer)

  • Add more 'shocking' scenes
  • Think about iconography
  • Is the killer male or female?
  • Brute force shows masculinity
  • Great Storyline
  • Pictures of the girls 'news flash' is excellent
  • Camera filter is good
  • Text could be a tiny bit slower
  • Possibly more footage
  • Nice transitions
  • Great use of MES
  • Nice setting of the scenes with captions
  • Seems to be lots of dead body shots
  • Nothing that really builds the storyline for viewer
  • Love the music

Update 17

Today I spent a couple of hours adding in footage to the trailer and making sure it fit with the music. I also shortened the clips in order to make the trailer and move away from what was looking like a short film.
Charlotte and I also did some filming today. We filmed Katie dieing and the killer standing behind her. Tonight Charlotte is going to get the killer with a bloody knife.

Update 16

Today I have filmed the scenes in the shed. These include Stephanie dieing, the 'door' opening, cowering from the inside. However we are not sure about the door opening scene as it doesn't really have any relivance.

Tuesday, 12 November 2013

Update 15

Today we begun adding in the soundtrack which is helping to add a little more depth to our trailer.
We have more to do in terms of editing that including fades in and out when there's some speaking in the trailer.

We also have a couple more scenes to film/re-do. We will be making a list of these in tomorrow's lesson.

Update 14

Today Charlotte and I did some editing on our trailer and added in the new footage we shot on Sunday morning.

Today I am going to do a little more filming including the clip of the killer.

Raw Footage

Update 13

Today we did some filming. We shot:
  • Girls legs hanging
  • The shot of us filming the 'Documentary' opening
  • A bit of running
  • An over the shoulder shot of a girl hiding behind a tree
  • The ankle 'Breaking' scene
We plan on putting this into the trailer tomorrow. Along with the music we have chosen.

Chosen Soundtrack

A variation of these sounds will be placed through out the trailer.

With this one we will be using the second piece of music featured here which is called Halloween and is the main title piece from a film in 1978. However we will be editing it to make it:

  1. Fit with our trailer speed a little better
  2. We want it less recognizable but we believe it will be a great base line to start with.

Update 12

Today I did some editing on our trailer. I edited the brightness and contrast on the clips we are using to darken them down a little.

Update 11

Today Charlotte did some editing on our trailer. She put the new footage in and with my help put it in order based on our storyboard.

Mrs D

Well done for adding so many updates. Keep up the good work.
